The collie dog.

Collie's dog makes an excellent sports dog, and can be taught to do Pointer and Setter work, as well as that of Water Spaniel and Retriever. He can be trained to do other kinds of work. He is very good at hunting, has a very good nose, is a good insect killer, and a watch, a security guard and a very loyal partner.

Little is known for certainty about Collie's origins, but her cunning and outward appearance may seem to indicate a relationship with the wild dog. Buffon was of the opinion that he was a real natural dog, a stock and a model for all canine species. He regarded Sheepdog as an emotionally and intellectually superior of all kinds, and that, with a character where education has a relatively small share, the only animal born is fully trained for human performance.

At shows this type of dog is always very high in the classroom. He is considered to be the heaviest bearer, and indeed the fastest of them all. Second in this category is the permissive breed, a very hardy, helpful dog, well-suited for hilly work and the frequency of foot traffic. He is not mild-tempered like black and white, and he is slow to make friends. No more kind and physically fit dog could be seen than the modern Collie. Produced from the old active version, it is now somewhat different.

The skull should be flat, moderately wide between the ears, and gradually soften toward the eyes. There should be only a small amount of stress when standing. The width of the skull depends on the length of the joint head and the mask; and all should be considered in relation to the size of the dog. The cheek should not be full or protruding.

The mask should be of equal length, touch the nose, and should not show weakness or be snippy or lippy. Whatever the color of the dog, the nose should be black. Teeth should be of good size, sound and quality; very small inequalities are allowed. Jaws Cut clean and strong. The eyes are the most important element, and they represent the dog; they should be medium-sized, evenly shaped, almond-shaped, and brown except for the occurrence of merles, where the eyes are usually (one or both) blue and white or china; Speech full of wisdom, with a quick alert look when you listen. The ears should be small and moderately wide at the base, and can be placed very close together but placed above the skull and not on the side of the head. When they are at rest they should often be carried backwards, but when the warning is brought forward and taken to a standstill, with slightly loosened tips in the listening position.

The neck should be muscular, strong and of equal length, and slightly bent. The body should be strong, with well-developed ribs, a deep chest, wide enough behind the shoulders, which should be sloping, the hips are very strong. The dog should go straight ahead. The front legs should be straight and muscular, not inside or outside the elbow, with the right number of bones; the arm is a specific muscle, the lungs showing flexibility without weakness. The hind legs should be muscular at the thighs, clean and neatly under the chin, with well-wrapped trunks. The feet should be oval, the saliva loosened, and the toes bent and close together.

According to the average character he is an active dog, his deep chest shows the strength of his lungs, the strength of his neck, his loose shoulders and well-folded folds that show speed, and his eloquence of great wisdom. She should be about the same length as the leg, giving her more racy than looking cloddy. In a few words, Collie must show perseverance, work, and ingenuity, in a free and honest act. The height of the dogs should be 22 ins. on 24 ins. on the shoulders, bitches 20 ins. up to 22 ins. Dog weight is 45 to 65 lbs., Bitches 40 to 55 lbs. Smooth collie differs only in roughness in its clothing, which should be hard, thick and very smooth
